Two Year Community Colleges | Four Year Colleges and Universities
Each of the eight counties served by North Jersey Partners has a community college within its limits working to meet employer needs by developing a competent, skilled workforce. Each year all of the 19 New Jersey community colleges serve students of all ages in credit, non-credit, and workforce training programs.
The mission of New Jersey's community colleges is to provide high quality transfer programs, occupational programs, continuing education courses, business support services, and community service programs at a reasonably low cost in response to local and statewide needs. The New Jersey Council on Community Colleges provides statewide leadership for the two-year institutions.
In addition, the State of New Jersey has designated community colleges as the preferred provider for its customized training program that provides about $30 million in grants each year to upgrade workers' skills. The New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development provides one-point access to all of the vast resources of the state's 19 community colleges, including over 1,700 programs taught by highly qualified faculty with business and industry experience. With 63 campuses statewide, there is a community college facility within 20 to 25 minutes of where every citizen lives or works in the state.
